Shows

Here are a few samples of our pre-show narratives for selected productions:

A company of dancers react to a human chicken fight. One woman wears a long-sleeve, form fitting silver lame body suit with a tall, blue feather headdress. Another wears a white, crushed fabric shirt with a light blue tutu and white, fishnet hose. A third wears a long, pink overcoat with a matching, tall, pillbox hat, standing next to a man in white clown makeup with a tiny red top hat and a wide, frilly, red collar and a two-piece navy blue suit.

Season 48: Fall Series

Returning to the Steppenwolf Theatre stage after taking it by storm last year with a sold-out 2-week run, Season 48’s Fall Series showcases the full range of physicality and emotion of the Hubbard Street Dancers with an eclectic mixed-repertory program in this intimate theater.

On an otherwise completely black, empty stage, on the back wall at the right, a thin band of light traces the periphery of a large doorway with a tall triangular arch. In the center of the doorway, a woman spins out from a single wooden door in the wall, dressed in a simple one-piece, sleeveless shirt dress to her knees.
